Often, people overthink their recipes and end up making the same old khichdi, dal, or rice. But did you know that using simple ingredients at home can create a dish that's not only delicious but also healthy? This dish is Sabudana Biryani.
This is a dish that everyone will love, whether vegetarian or non-vegetarian. You've likely seen sabudana in vadas, khichdi, or during fasts, but have you ever tried a tasty and healthy biryani made from it? This dish is not only delicious but also incredibly easy to prepare, and most importantly, it can be prepared in just 20 to 25 minutes. So, let's learn how to prepare this special sago biryani at home, a favorite among non-vegetarians.
How to prepare Sabudana Biryani at home
1. To make sabudana biryani at home, first wash the sabudana (sago pearls) thoroughly and then soak them in water for 3-4 hours. When the sabudana (sago pearls) swell, place them in a sieve and drain the water.
2. Heat ghee or oil in a pan. Once the oil is hot, add cumin seeds, green chilies, curry leaves, and peanuts, and fry them thoroughly. Fry the peanuts until they turn slightly golden brown for a pleasant flavor.
3. Next, cut the boiled potatoes into small pieces, add them to the pan, and lightly fry them. Don't overcook the potatoes; just toss them lightly so they mix well with the spices.
4. Now add the soaked sago. After adding the sago, add rock salt and black pepper powder and mix well. Cook this mixture over medium heat for 3-4 minutes, so that the sago is thoroughly cooked and its flavor is infused with all the spices.
5. Before turning off the heat, add lemon juice and coriander leaves. If desired, you can also add cardamom powder for a richer flavor. Mix everything well.
6. Now your Sabudana Biryani is ready, serve it with hot curd or raita.
